On Boasting

Never boast about tomorrow. You don’t know what will happen between now and then.’

The Gown

On the night of our outing, we had our annual Christmas party. This year, it was a cocktail party. So, here was I in my white gown.

What’s so special about this gown? Well… I made it myself. As in.. HANDMADE.

I crocheted it. I started it 2 weeks before the party and I finished it just the day before the party. So CLOSE, lol!

Cuties

Several weeks before the Christmas vacation, a student walked-in for an hour to get some help in writing her movie review. I had no problem with that, only, I need to see the movie that she would write the review for.

I asked her if she already watched the movie and she said yes, she did. So, I asked her if she could leave me with the DVD. She smiled apologetically and said that since the movie was quite old she had a hard time looking for a copy. Instead, she handed me a cute little thing on my upturned palm.

Oh my! It was one of those awesome custom usb drives that people are crazy about. And it was so cute it took me a while before I finally understood the instructions she was giving me.

She came back the following day and we worked together. When she left, I found it difficult to say goodbye to her cute usb, lol!

Our Christmas 2010

Even without the head of our family, we were able to celebrate Christmas as happily as we could.

To make up for the missing member of our family, I invited my sister-in-law and another friend to spend Christmas with us. We followed the usual tradition. We prepared food, wrapped gifts, lighted up the Christmas tree and took pictures.

It may not be as joyous as we’d want it to be but it was better than I expected.

It was still a Merry Christmas after all..

The Outing

I just got back from Zambales last night. We had our annual outing in White  Rock Beach Resort in Subic and it really was fun. I am going to tell you about it in my next posts until you have more than enough you wouldn’t want to look at my blog again, lol!

For now, there are some things that I need to attend to, some things that have to do with what you might also be busy with. Yes, CHRISTMAS.

Bye for now, guys, but I’ll be back so soon that you wouldn’t even notice, lol

By the way, I’m the one with the green cell phone case hanging down my neck..

No Longer A Newbie

As the year gets near its end, I began to contemplate about the things I have done as a blogger.

At first, it was just purely for financial reasons. It was my sister, Liz of This is My Life who invited me to try blogging. As much as she wants to help me out financially, she also has her own problems to solve. So, as patiently as she could (she’s not a teacher like myself) she taught me the basic things I needed to learn about blogging like posting an entry to my blog and posting comments on somebody else’s.

I started from there. But I learned a lot since then, met new friends and enjoyed the beauty of blogging. The two most important things I learned are: first, post entries worth reading and second, visit other bloggers as frequently as you could.

Your entries are the essence of your blog. They are what your visitors visit you for. You owe it to them to give them something, whatever that something is, is up to you.

Visit other bloggers and post sensible comments, that is something related to their post. If you do that, they may reciprocate your gesture and you will earn yourself a group of regular visitors.

After several months of serious blogging, I applied to and was approved by advertisers and I started posting paid posts. It was difficult at first, but soon, I began to appreciate the challenge and enjoy doing paid posts as much as personal posts.

So now, as far as blogging is concerned, I think I no longer consider myself a newbie..

Another Wish

Just when I got one of my Christmas wishes, another one just popped in my head. Well, it’s just as simple as the others but more classic and one that I want to keep until I get old.

You see, besides books, plants and mugs, I also would appreciate so much if I get Personalized cookie jars. I can imagine an older me in my kitchen, with these jars sitting on the cupboard, each with its own story to tell.

It may sound so melodramatic but that’s how I imagine myself to be several decades from now, a nostalgic white-haired woman and not an irritable old hag who constantly lose pension money over card games, lol!

Got It!

I already got what I want for Christmas, a Miura indoor plant.

Besides our company outing, we also have a Christmas party at our branch. Luckily, what I want is available at the mall where we work. So, whoever picked my name was so thankful that she didn’t need to get out of her way to buy my present.

Good for her, BETTER for me, because I’ve been wanting this for two years now, lol!

So Excited!

Yes, I am! I really am. Few more days and we’ll be off to Zambales for our traditional yearly Christmas outing.

The problem is I haven’t packed yet. I’m kind of having trouble deciding which stuff to bring. I need to prepare our company shirt, a pair of pajamas, nice jeans, and of course considering the season, I anticipate cold weather, plus, we’re going to the beach and I might get cold during the night, so I need to bring cardigan sweaters.

This is just so exciting! We’ve been looking forward to this company outing for quite a while and now that it’s getting closer, I think some of us are already losing sleep over this, lol!

Life just keeps getting better and better!
