MM: Black and White
I’m sorry about this, but I really didn’t find any picture of any of us wearing black and white or with black and white background. So, I chose to feature a ‘literal’ black and white photo.
This is my mother when she was a teenager (I guess). I can no longer remember the whole story behind this photo, only that she was some kind of a muse in a parade. This was taken some time in 1950s in Barangay TRIALA where we lived. Except for the dirt road, the place haven’t changed much and though some people find it boring, I never get bored when I stay there. I love the place and if only there are more available opportunities of employment there, I would’ve chosen to stay there for good..
Moreover, I chose to feature my mother’s photo as an early tribute for this wonderful woman for the forthcoming Mothers’ Day..
An entry for
I Need Calcium
Early this morning as I looked out of the terrace, I saw an old woman walking down the street with a toddler walking beside her. I wasn’t suppose to notice her except that she was stooping way too low that she looked like a child herself. And I was so shocked when I recognized her, she was one of our neighbors when we were still living in another part of the subdivision about 13 years ago. What shocked me most was the way she seems to shrink. I remember her to be taller than that. Well, they say calcium deficiency causes women to shrink in their old age, well, then.. I think it’s time to drink more milk and take calcium supplements.. Well, talk about early eye-opener..
Oh, My Hunk!
As I was viewing my friends’ pictures in Facebook, a notification was suddenly shown on my screen. I was tagged a picture. Curious, I checked it out right away and was so stunned to see a picture of my shirtless husband. Well, my husband is not normally naughty, maybe he really finds it sweet to send me a half naked picture. Actually, the picture was not bad at all. He seems to gain muscles that I am under the impression that he might be using usp labs pink magic. But just as I was going to ask him that, he asked me first if I like his picture and I said yes, of course, I like it. So, he asked me, why I didn’t comment on it. I was surprised. So, he was expecting me to comment on his half naked picture and was somehow offended when I didn’t.. Oh well, things got sour and.. anyways, now I know what to do when I am tagged another picture…
Names Plates, Please..
As the summer season gets really hot, the situation at work gets hotter. Well, I think that’s what ‘peak season’ is all about, being busy and toxic. Every morning when I arrive at the office, I am greeted by the long queue of students whose class starts at 10:00am. They are the incoming 4th year students from various schools enrolled in the College Entrance Test Review hoping to get admitted to the best universities here in the Philippines. And since it is the summer vacation, there really are plenty of them, about 35 in my last count. Now, how could I ever remember all their names? Well, of course I do the very classic thing, I asked them to make name tags. Though we are only together for a short time, about 8 days, I surely would be happy to know each of them by name. And most of the time, I memorize them by name and by face in the 2nd session..
What Is Good..
‘The Lord has told us what is good. What he requires of us is this: to do what is JUST, to show constant LOVE, and to live in HUMBLE fellowship with our God.’

Naughty Kids
I don’t tell them this, but I like it when my kids fool around among themselves. I know these are special moments because sooner or later, they will get old and will get serious with ‘matters of consequences’ and I will be thankful I have this picture to remind me of how naughty and fun they had been..
Dental Fashion
A visit to the dentist is perhaps one of the most sinister events in some people’s lives. Just the thought of going into a dental clinic , sitting on the dental chair and letting the dentist work on your teeth is quite unsettling. There is something endearing yet formidable about dentists in their dental office uniforms. They give them a sense of power over the patients, the power to take the pain away likewise the power to inflict more pain. Maybe it has something to do with the great white garments they are clad with.
But now, with the new and fashionable dental hygiene scrubs, dentists look more wholesome and friendly. The vibrant colors lend a touch of commonality that give the dentists the sense of being one with the patient. Looking at them in their fashion seal scrub sets is like looking at friends who understand your discomfort. It makes the patient feel relaxed knowing that help is on the way. Then, with the light touch of their expert hands and assurance in their voices , it will be just a short while and the pain and discomfort that the patient endures for a week or maybe a month will go away and the patient is left with relief and gratefulness.
The health care providers play an essential role in the community. It, therefore, matters how people view them, as friends or as enemies. So, the choice of clothing to create a lasting impression is a fundamental consideration, would it be the traditional white or the new high fashion scrubs?
As a patient , I would go for the colorful ones..
