Painful Awakening
The peak season is officially over. That fact is clear when all of the departments in our company held meetings last week. The purposes of which were (1) to discuss the problems we encountered this summer and propose solutions to avoid such problems; (2) to discuss about the programs we’re going to offer now that another season has already begun and (3) to introduce the new appointed officers in our company brought about by the mass resignation that happened prior to the peak season.
Though we expect such SURPRISES, we were surprised nonetheless, especially about the appointment of new heads. The appointment wasn’t that surprising, the appointees, however, were quite so..
I personally have nothing against my new head, because though she is about 12 years my junior and has been with the company for only a year, I know she deserves the appointment and she is ready for the responsibilities (the latter is something I wasn’t ready for and I will never be ready for, that’s why I turned down the same offer about 2 years ago).
The new head of another department, however, is another matter. Maybe I am prejudiced because I was so convinced that somebody else, a friend of mine actually, was more deserving of the position. That they appointed a newly hired who wasn’t aware of some of our programs, I could accept, but that they didn’t even consider the person I think is more deserving, that’s what really stung.
But when asked why they appointed someone so new to the company, one of the members of the management team simply said they saw something about the new head that made her the best choice. What that ‘something’ is, they didn’t explain and I believe they wouldn’t at all. So, we waited until the department meetings to see and observe the new head which we haven’t met yet.
And there she was, sharing her life story and criticizing the materials that she didn’t help develop instead of addressing the problems and discussing the new programs that we’re going to offer. We knew why she didn’t discuss the things we expected to hear, because she doesn’t know what those are. So, when 3 and a half hours were wasted already, the Operations Manager had no choice anymore but to butt in and discuss what they went there for. Obviously, ‘their chosen one’ was not meticulously oriented.
My friend, seething though she was about the whole thing, was able to hold back her emotions and I know in time she’ll get over it, as will I. The painful truth, however, of not being recognized and appreciated for all the things you do and accomplished will, I’m sure, hover over her longer than she’d want it..

Do you smell something fishy? Happy weekdays!
As they say, all is fair in love and war. Your management may have seen something in the new appointee and whether she deserves the appointment or not will be to the credit or consternation of management. Your friend will have her day too. Maybe she just were not seeing eye to eye with management. Thanks for the post. God bless you always.
Life is full of unfair things…
thanks for the visit mommy kimmy! your post reminded me of my situation before when i was still working. it was heartbreaking. i know i wasn’t deserving for a position but the person who took the place of the new head was very demeaning! she treated us like we were so lowly and that she was so superior. nobody actually liked her. hehehe… but i learned a lesson from that experience. anyways, have a nice week ahead!
